Line up! Line up! Get your swanky new pair of ‘Air Dior’ Jordan’s and be quick about it, these hot new high-tops are destined to fly off the shelves at rapid capacity! After all it’s not every day that a Parisian Fashion House teams up with one of the coolest sportswear brands on the planet. And lo and behold it isn’t just a classical twist on the legendary Michael Jordan inspired ‘Nikey’ trainer that they are offering, there’s a whole capsule to choose from, which is sure to satisfy all your sports luxe desires.
Autumn/Winter 2020 saw the two quintessential brands team up in the Miami Menswear show to unveil the Air Jordan 1 High OG Dior sneaker, along with the low version of the trainer for those who are not quite on board with a high-top shoe. And naturally, people have been going wild, partially due to the fact that they are limited edition and additionally because both fashionistas and trainer enthusiasts have been waiting months to get their hands on a pair. The initial release was intended for March 2020, but due to a Global Crisis in the form of a pandemic, the release suffered a delay until the 25th of June. Damn you Covid-19. But hurrah! The wait is finally over.
So, apart from the blatantly obvious reality that the Air Jordan 1 High OG Dior sneakers are beautifully handcrafted and combine an illustrious high fashion brand with an extremely coveted make of shoe, why are they all the rage? Well, they’re a mash up of classic and cool, they take Dior’s notorious tailoring and 80’s retro sportswear vibes, provided by the iconic basketball player that is Michael Jordan, and slam it into a trainer. I’ll challenge you to get much better than that! The shoe features the Nike tick exquisitely embroidered with the famous ‘D’ for Dior and hand painted edges which are not to be scoffed at. Glued together in the finest white and grey Italian leather, with an ice blue sole, these mesmerising trainers are topped off with the Air Jordan logo, imprinted instead with ‘Air Dior’. A masterpiece of minimalistic footwear, these sneakers also come with a pretty hefty price tag, so be prepared to flash the cash.
But as mentioned, the trainers aren’t the only thing for sale. The Air Dior capsule also features some of the finest sports luxe, menswear fashion has to offer. There’s bomber jackets, sweaters and hoodies all emblazoned with the Air Dior logo. And accessories! Never forget the accessories. If you fancy a silk scarf, don’t worry they’ve got them. The collection will be available from Dior Men in London Selfridges and New Bond Street from the 8th July. And as for the trainers, they were available to reserve online, however upon further inspection it looks as if registration is now closed.
