Golden Globes Awards 2021

Global pandemic and all, Hollywood pushes forward with a semi-glamorous (mostly virtual!) awards ceremony that might have received mixed reactions from the public as to its importance. There has also been plenty of criticism as to the impartiality of the HFPA, most notably surrounding the outrage caused by their snub of Micaela Coel’s masterpiece I May Destroy You, and their nomination of Emily in Paris instead! But let’s look at it in a positive light: it’s not a bad idea to celebrate some worthy individuals in the film and television industry for all their creative exploits, and for producing things that keep us entertained during this lockdown.

The ceremony was evidently held under safe measures, with the nominees and guests participating from the comfort of their hotel rooms or homes. Is this even a real red carpet? Maybe so, in these times. Thanks to their teams and some memorable pieces from high-profile designers, the nominees definitely served looks in the virtual hub. Some chose to wear lavish gowns, while others opted for more comfortable outfits. As with true quarantine or social distancing fashion, anything goes.

Here are some of the winners, clad in their custom-made garb:
